Unforgettable Northern Lights Tour in Rovaniemi — With Lifelong Memories
For many people traveling to Lapland, the main goal is to witness the Northern Lights and capture breathtaking photos of them. It's a common misconception that finding the Northern Lights is a given. In reality, conditions in Lapland and the aurora's activity vary greatly. Days or even weeks can pass without any sightings near Rovaniemi. That’s why our tour has no time or distance limits. We are truly prepared to take you wherever the auroras are visible on that specific night, often even across the Finnish border into other Nordic countries. Our experienced local guides are experts at reading weather data and aurora activity forecasts, both in advance and in real-time, which ensures the best possible chance of finding the lights without risking your money.
Of course, just finding the Northern Lights isn't enough; capturing them in photographs to create lifelong memories is equally important. To ensure this, a professional local photographer will be your guide on the tour.

Frequently Asked
Curious about how the tour works? Explore these helpful answers to make planning your perfect aurora night easy and stress-free.
No Limits means that the tour has no fixed limit for distance or duration. We are ready to drive as far as needed to give you the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
Sometimes the sky in Finnish Lapland is completely covered by clouds, which makes it impossible to see the aurora even when it is active. In that case we may drive into Swedish Lapland or another clearer area if the cloud data looks better there. The tour continues as long as the guide believes that the best auroras of the night have been seen. We do not end the tour after the first weak lights but wait for a better show when the conditions allow it.
You can sleep in the vehicle, eat your own snacks, and the guide will find the nearest public toilet if needed, even on a longer night out. The whole night is available for the hunt, so the tour can last from about two hours up to around fourteen hours, until daylight. The average duration is usually around six to seven hours.
We send all photos taken of your group, both individual and group photos, by email to every member of your group within one to three days after the tour.
During the tour your guide will collect the email addresses of everyone in the group. We then send a link to download the photos to those addresses. Please make sure you give your guide the correct email address and that it is written clearly so that the photos can reach you without problems.
1. Clothing
Please wear warm clothing. When the aurora appears, we may spend a long time outside taking photos. A warm vehicle is always nearby, so you do not need to be afraid of the cold, but it is important to be comfortable outdoors.
You can remove layers during driving so that you do not get too hot inside the vehicle, but for the cold outside air you should bring a winter jacket or overalls, a warm hat, and gloves. We also recommend winter boots with a high shaft so that you can walk in snow without getting your feet wet.
2. Snacks and drinks
We provide small snacks and hot drinks during the tour, but you are welcome to bring your own food as well. You are not driving, so if you wish you may also bring your own alcoholic drinks, as long as this does not disturb other members of the group.
3. Tour duration
Because the tour has no fixed time or distance limit, it can last anywhere between about two hours and fourteen hours. The average duration is usually six to seven hours. Please be prepared for the possibility of a longer adventure, both mentally and in your schedule.
You should not book this tour if you have a flight home on the same evening or night. An early wake up the next morning is not a problem, since you are free to sleep in the vehicle during the night. Most importantly, bring good spirits and high expectations. This tour is designed to create an unforgettable Northern Lights experience.
