Unforgettable Northern Lights Tour in Rovaniemi — Guaranteed Aurora Finds

For many people traveling to Lapland, the main goal is to witness the Northern Lights and capture breathtaking photos of them. Instead of choosing the cheapest, shortest tour where you'd need a stroke of luck to see this magical phenomenon, our local and experienced guides guarantee you an unforgettable experience. Yes, you read that right—we actually guarantee you will find the Northern Lights, backed by our money-back guarantee.

It's a common misconception that finding the Northern Lights is a given. In reality, conditions in Lapland and the aurora's activity vary greatly. Days or even weeks can pass without any sightings near Rovaniemi. That’s why our tour has no time or distance limits. We are truly prepared to take you wherever the auroras are visible on that specific night, often even across the Finnish border into other Nordic countries. Our experienced local guides are experts at reading weather data and aurora activity forecasts, both in advance and in real-time, which ensures the best possible chance of finding the lights without risking your money.

Of course, just finding the Northern Lights isn't enough; capturing them in photographs to create lifelong memories is equally important. To ensure this, a professional local photographer will be your guide on the tour. This is where our money-back guarantee comes into play: if you do not get that memorable photo of yourself with the Northern Lights, you will receive a 100% refund or, if you prefer, a new tour free of charge.

Frequently Asked

Curious about how the tour works? Explore these helpful answers to make planning your perfect aurora night easy and stress-free.

How does the Money Back Guarantee work?

We offer a Money Back Guarantee on the Ultimate Aurora Tour with Guarantee and on its private version. We reserve the right to cancel the tour before it starts, as early as possible, if we already know that it will be impossible to see the Northern Lights that night.

The guarantee works like this: if you do not get a photo of yourself with the Northern Lights, we refund one hundred percent of your payment. We cannot promise how strong or how large the aurora will be, but we do promise that you will always have the best possible Northern Lights that appear during that night. Even if we see a weak aurora at the start of the tour, we do not drive back home if our experienced guide believes that stronger lights are still likely based on live data. In that case we stay out and wait so that you can get even better photos.

If the night is very difficult and the guide believes that the chances of finding auroras are very low, the tour can be ended early so that you do not waste your time. In this situation your payment is refunded.

The tour is run with a No Limits policy, which means there is no fixed limit for time or distance. If all guests in the vehicle clearly ask to end the tour early, but the guide still believes that auroras are likely, the tour can be stopped, but in that case the Money Back Guarantee does not apply.

What does “No Limits” mean?

No Limits means that the tour has no fixed limit for distance or duration. We are ready to drive as far as needed to give you the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

Sometimes the sky in Finnish Lapland is completely covered by clouds, which makes it impossible to see the aurora even when it is active. In that case we may drive into Swedish Lapland or another clearer area if the cloud data looks better there. The tour continues as long as the guide believes that the best auroras of the night have been seen. We do not end the tour after the first weak lights but wait for a better show when the conditions allow it.

You can sleep in the vehicle, eat your own snacks, and the guide will find the nearest public toilet if needed, even on a longer night out. The whole night is available for the hunt, so the tour can last from about two hours up to around fourteen hours, until daylight. The average duration is usually around six to seven hours.

When and how will I receive the photos?

We send all photos taken of your group, both individual and group photos, by email to every member of your group within one to three days after the tour.

During the tour your guide will collect the email addresses of everyone in the group. We then send a link to download the photos to those addresses. Please make sure you give your guide the correct email address and that it is written clearly so that the photos can reach you without problems.

How should I prepare for the tour?

1. Clothing
Please wear warm clothing. When the aurora appears, we may spend a long time outside taking photos. A warm vehicle is always nearby, so you do not need to be afraid of the cold, but it is important to be comfortable outdoors.

You can remove layers during driving so that you do not get too hot inside the vehicle, but for the cold outside air you should bring a winter jacket or overalls, a warm hat, and gloves. We also recommend winter boots with a high shaft so that you can walk in snow without getting your feet wet.

2. Snacks and drinks
We provide small snacks and hot drinks during the tour, but you are welcome to bring your own food as well. You are not driving, so if you wish you may also bring your own alcoholic drinks, as long as this does not disturb other members of the group.

3. Tour duration
Because the tour has no fixed time or distance limit, it can last anywhere between about two hours and fourteen hours. The average duration is usually six to seven hours. Please be prepared for the possibility of a longer adventure, both mentally and in your schedule.

You should not book this tour if you have a flight home on the same evening or night. An early wake up the next morning is not a problem, since you are free to sleep in the vehicle during the night. Most importantly, bring good spirits and high expectations. This tour is designed to create an unforgettable Northern Lights experience.
